FAQ About Spiral Metallic heating elements

Commonly asked questions about the FeCrAl heating Spirals

  1. What is the difference between a heating wire and a heating element?

Heating resistance wires are thin and spooled. They will be further processed into cables and heating elements for specific heating purposes.

The heating elements here we talked about are mainly formed into the desired shapes for a specific furnace and machine.

  2. What materials do you have?

We have FeCrAl material and Nichrome material for heating elements. They can reach the temp of 1400°C.

  3. How to customize a heating element?

Customers usually order with us when the original ones need replacing. To customize a heating element specifically for the furnace, the more details the better. The pictures of elements, and how the element is used in the furnace are very helpful. Second, the furnace manufacturer usually provides drawings of the heating element, this is the key. Last, how many degrees and watts will be required.

  4. Does my new element come with connectors, wire, pins etc?

  5.  No. Element accessories, controls, relays, and other accessories are sold separately.

   5. How do I stretch an element to length?
The most effective way is to clamp one end of the element to a strong door frame and use a piece of string as a guide for the desired length. It's difficult to shorten an element once stretched so care should                 be taken not to over-stretch. To determine your element length lay a piece of string in the element channel and mark or cut it to length.

6.How much power (measured in Watts) do I need for my kiln or furnace?
     A. The amount of power needed is dependent on the maximum desired temperature and the amount of insulation used in the construction of the furnace. Below is a table with a few examples of commercially             made kilns showing their maximum temperature ratings and power requirements. These commercial kilns are constructed with K23 IFB (soft firebrick). Kilns made using castable, ceramic fiber or hard brick will               need varying amounts of power.

   7. What is your brand?

Our brand is DLX, and we often do OEM. The other big brands in heating industry are Kanthal and Kiln parts

   8. What is your lead time?

We usually can get the elements ready in 15-20 days.
