0Cr21Al6 SWG 14 Wire with White Surface – Specifications

Material Composition:

  • 0Cr21Al6 is a Fe-Cr-Al (Iron-Chromium-Aluminum) alloy, commonly used in heating applications due to its high-temperature resistance and oxidation resistance.

  • Composition:

    • Chromium (Cr): ~21%

    • Aluminum (Al): ~6%

    • Iron (Fe): Balance

    • Small amounts of rare earth elements (REEs) for improved oxidation resistance.

Physical & Electrical Properties:

  • Wire Gauge (SWG 14): ~2.03 mm diameter

  • Surface: White oxide-coated (provides enhanced resistance to oxidation and scaling)

  • Density: ~7.2 g/cm³

  • Melting Point: ~1450°C

  • Maximum Operating Temperature: ~1300°C

  • Electrical Resistivity: ~1.42 Ω·mm²/m

  • Resistance per meter (approx.): ~0.43 Ω/m

Mechanical Properties:

  • Tensile Strength: ~650-750 MPa

  • Elongation at Break: ~12-18%

  • Hardness: Moderate, slightly brittle compared to Nichrome wires

Key Features & Advantages:

High-temperature resistance – Suitable for up to 1300°C.
Excellent oxidation resistance – Aluminum forms a protective oxide layer.
Longer service life – More durable than Nichrome in high-heat environments.
Good electrical resistivity – Efficient heating performance.

Common Applications:

  • Heating elements in industrial furnaces, kilns, and electric ovens.

  • Resistive heating wire for high-temperature applications.

  • Heat treatment equipment.

  • Infrared heaters and electric stoves.
