CuNi (Copper-Nickel) alloys for different cable applications:


1. Heating Cables (Self-Regulating & Constant Wattage)

Recommended Alloys:

  • CuNi44 (Constantan, 55% Cu, 44% Ni) – High resistivity, stable heating performance.

  • CuNi23 (23% Ni, 77% Cu) – Medium resistivity, used in flexible heating elements.

  • CuNi10 (10% Ni, 90% Cu) – Lower resistance, used for heating cables with fast response.

Application Examples:

  • Floor heating cables

  • Pipe freeze protection cables

  • Industrial heat tracing


2. Resistance Cables (Precision & Load Bank)

Recommended Alloys:

  • CuNi44 (Constantan) – High-precision resistance, minimal temperature drift.

  • CuNi34 (34% Ni, 66% Cu) – Moderate resistance for stable load control.

Application Examples:

  • Load banks for power testing

  • Precision resistors in instrumentation cables

  • Current sensing in high-power systems


3. Thermocouple & Sensor Cables

Recommended Alloys:

  • CuNi44 (Constantan) – Used as the negative leg in Type T (Copper-Constantan) thermocouples.

  • CuNi10 (Cupronickel 10) – Used in RTD (Resistance Temperature Detector) sensor cables.

Application Examples:

Recommended Alloys:

  • CuNi6 (6% Ni, 94% Cu) – Low resistance, excellent EMI shielding.

  • CuNi10 (10% Ni, 90% Cu) – Used in medical and aerospace shielded cables.

Application Examples:

  • Aerospace signal transmission cables
